Product Overview

PoieticsTM Normal Human Adipose Derived Stem Cells (hADSC) are isolated from normal (non-diabetic) adult lipoaspirates collected during elective surgical liposuction procedures.

Normal Human ADSC have been reported to differentiate down many different lineages including chondrogenic, osteogenic, adipogenic and neural. Normal Human ADSC have been cryopreserved at primary passage.

Pertinent additional donor information, including Body Mass Index (BMI) may be available by contacting Scientific Support. Cryopreserved PoieticsTM Normal Human ADSC are guaranteed through 5 passages, to express CD13, CD29, CD44, CD73, CD90, CD105, and CD166 and to not express CD14, CD31, and CD45.

All cells test negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HIV-1, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are not detected for all donors and/or cell lots. A Certificate of Analysis is provided for each cell lot purchased.

Human ADSC from diabetic donors are available as a separate product. These cells have demonstrated very similar phenotypic and functional characteristics to that of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells.

Recommended Media and Reagents

Growth Medium:

  • ADSC Human Adipose Derived Stem Cell Growth BulletKitTM Medium

Differentiation Medium*:

  • Adipogenic: PGMTM -2 Preadipocyte Growth Medium-2 BulletKitTM Medium (provides both a plating medium and a differentiation medium appropriate to induce differentiation of human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells into mature, functionally active adipocytes; Each bottle of the PGM-2TM BulletKitTM Medium contains enough differentiation medium to fully differentiate up to 20 million Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSC) [10 complete 96-well plates] into mature, functionally active adipocytes).
  • Chondrogenic: hMSC Chondrogenic Differentiation BulletKitTM Medium, with the addition of TGF-β3 (provides a differentiation medium appropriate to induce chondrogenic differentiation of human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells into mature, functionally active chondrocytes; Each bottle of the hMSC Chondrogenic Differentiation BulletKitTM Medium, with the addition of TGF-β3 (sold separately), contains enough differentiation medium to fully differentiate approximately 12.5 million human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells [approximately 25 micropellets] into mature, functionally active chondrocytes).
  • Osteogenic: hMSC Osteogenic Differentiation BulletKitTM Medium (provides a differentiation medium appropriate to induce osteogenic differentiation of human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells into mature, functionally active osteoblasts; Each bottle of the hMSC Osteogenic Differentiation BulletKitTM Medium contains enough differentiation medium to fully differentiate approximately 200,000 human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells [approximately 20 wells in a 24-well plate format] into mature, functionally active osteoblasts).

Lonza guarantees the performance of CloneticsTM/PoieticsTM cells only if appropriate CloneticsTM/PoieticsTM media and reagents are used exclusively and the recommended storage and use protocols are followed. Any modifications made to the recommended cell systems including the use of alternative media, reagents or protocols, will void cell and media performance guarantees. If you need assistance in selecting the appropriate media, reagents, or protocol, please contact Lonza Scientific Support.

*Lonza does not routinely test differentiation of Lonza’s human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells and cannot guarantee differentiation for all lots.

  • Diabetes-related Differential Gene Expression in HAECs and ADSCs

With the prevalence of diabetes growing worldwide, the availability of primary human cells from diabetic donors is critical to increase research and knowledge about the disease at a cellular level. In this study, we sought to identify genes differentially regulated in diabetic type 1 and type 2 adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs).
