Choose the right combination of ingredients for your application. For example, the combination of specialty agarose Metaphor® and GelStar® Nucleic Acid Stain, will provide you with excellent resolution of size differences for small fragments after gel electrophoresis. Low-melt SeaPlaque® Agarose will help you recover your DNA or RNA with high integrity: the low melting point property of the agarose allows extraction of DNA or RNA from gels at a lower, non-denaturing temperature.

If you want to go fast and make no compromise on laboratory efficiency, the FlashGel® System works with precast and prestained gels for a fine resolution of DNA or RNA fragments within 2 to 7 minutes. The FlashGel® Recovery Cassette is a precast gel optimized to recover fragments for further downstream genetic engineering steps: the precast gels are nuclease-free and with the precast elution wells, you skip time-consuming gel extraction steps. If you prefer to work with your own gels, look out for the GTG® Symbol on the specialty agaroses. These ‘Genetic Technology Grade®’ agaroses have undergone additional quality control steps to guarantee no inhibition of downstream enzymatic reactions.

Agarose for electrophoresis of proteins

Using agarose for electrophoresis of proteins as an alternative approach to using polyacrylamide gels provides several benefits, including safety, efficiency and flexibility. Agarose gels can be run using vertical or horizontal systems and unlike polyacrylamide gels, agarose gels can be used effectively to separate proteins larger than 600,000 Da.

Covering a wide range of protein gel electrophoresis applications, our agaroses are optimized for the unique requirements of your molecular biology techniques. We provide specialty agaroses designed for:

  • electrophoresis of high-molecular-weight proteins (>600,000 Da),
  • electrophoresis of serum proteins / immunoelectrophoresis (IEP), and
