Product Overview

Human Dermal Fibroblasts are available from either adult skin (NHDF-Ad) or neonatal foreskin (NHDF-Neo). They are derived from the dermis of normal human neonatal foreskin or adult skin. They are cryopreserved at the end of primary culture.

Lonza's human dermal fibroblasts are guaranteed through 15 population doublings when using FGMTM-2 Growth Media. All cells test negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HIV-1, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are not detected for all donors and/or cell lots. Dermal fibroblasts are characterized by morphological observation throughout serial passage. A Certificate of Analysis is provided for each cell lot purchased.

  • A Serum-free Chemically Defined Medium for the Expansion of NHDF-Adult

Traditionally, in vitro cell culture medium contains animal-derived products like serum, tissue extracts or hydrosylates. They are also a source of undesirable factors, such as endotoxin, and pose potential BSE risks. The undefined and variable nature of these components is a challenge in basic research and applied biomedical sciences. Lonza has developed a serum-free chemically defined, fibroblast growth medium, to propagate primary adult normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDF).
