Sodium Bicarbonate has been the most commonlyused buffer in cell culture media because it is themain in vitro / in vivo physiological buffer. Media withHank’s Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) contain a lowconcentration of Sodium Bicarbonate (350 mg/L)and function best in a closed culture vessel. Mediawith Earle’s Balanced Salt Solution contain a higherconcentration of Sodium Bicarbonate (2200 mg/L)and function best in an open vessel, incubated in anatmosphere supplied with 5% CO2 in air. All BioWhittakerTM Cell Culture Reagent and Buffer products are manufactured in accordance with cGMP regulations and are cell culture tested to assure compatibility.
