Airway epithelial cells and media
There are many specialized respiratory cell types that are relevant for Covid 19 research and drug discovery. Infection of human small airway epithelial cells (SAEC) by SARS coronavirus was shown to correlate with the state of cell differentiation and ACE2 expression and localization3.
Air liquid interphase differentiated epithelial cells
Small airway epithelial cells (SAECs) and human bronchial epithelial cells (HBEs) can be differentiated in an ALI culture system that is capable of forming tight junctions and displaying cilia. The availability of guaranteed SAEC and HBEs lots from multiple donors suitable for ALI differentiation, as well as specific media for the growth and differentiation of airway epithelial cells, offers a biologically relevant in vitro model to the in vivo-like differentiated model.
Partner with Lonza and choose from a broad donor variety of ALI certified airway cells from normal, asthmatic, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis lung tissue. For all cell types specifically developed culture media are available. Our BulletKitTM Media is formulated with additional growth factors and hormones to optimally support consistent growth of primary cells while maintaining the tissue-specific characteristics.
