Choose from a variety of endothelial cell growth media for an easy cultivation of primary endothelial cells. Every endothelial cell growth medium has its special formulation and is optimized to grow certain cell types. Each type of endothelial cell growth medium is guaranteed to perform when used to grow CloneticsTM Primary Cells.    


The following Endothelial Cell Growth Medium BulletKitsTM are available:

  • EGMTM-2 BulletKitTM – Optimized for certain HUVECs, Aortic and Pulmonary artery endothelial cells. Final concentration of FBS in the mixed BulletKit is  2%.  Contains VEGF for rapid proliferation. Does not contain BBE.
  • EGMTM BulletKitTM – Optimized for HUVECs cat. no. CC-2517 and CC-2519. Contains BBE .Final concentration of FBS in the mixed BulletKit is 2%. Does not contain exogenous VEGF.
  • EGMTM-Plus BulletKitTM – Enhanced version of EGMTM Medium. Optimized for HUVECs cat. no. CC-2935. Contains BBE. Final concentration of FBS in the mixed BulletKit is  2%. Does not contain exogenous VEGF. Faster proliferation than HUVECs isolated in EGMTM Medium.
  • EGMTM-2MV BulletKitTM – Coronary and Iliac artery, human microvascular endothelial cells. 
    • Final concentration of FBS in the mixed BulletKit is 5%.  Contains VEGF for rapid proliferation. Does not contain BBE.

All 3 tested lots of Human Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells (HMVEC-L, cat no. CC-2527) show better morphology and confluency when grown in EGM® 2 MV compared to EGM0« MV

Cells were planted in a T25 flask and cultured for up to 9 days before Passage 1. Then, cells were split at 1 to 3 dilution and cultured until they reached 100% confluence. The cells need to reach 90-100% confluency in 1st passage and 100% confluency in the 2nd passage by day 9 to pass confluency test.

All 3 tested lots of Human Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells (HMVEC-L, cat no. CC-2527) show better morphology and confluency when grown in EGM® 2 MV compared to EGM® MV

To evaluate morphology, photomicrographs are taken at 20X with a Leica Dmi1 light microscope, when the cells reach 90-100% confluence (P1) and 100% confluence for P2. Passing morphology includes cells that have 1) tightly packed or «cobblestone» appearance and 2) bright and smooth cell borders.
