Product Overview

Lonza is your ideal partner when you are looking to buy PBMC. Our Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) are isolated from peripheral blood by apheresis and density gradient separation. They are guaranteed to contain ≥100 million viable cells per ampoule. Mononuclear cell (MNC) rich cells from leukapheresis are depleted of RBCs and platelets. MNC cell profilesdiffer by donors and can contain on average around  50% T cells, 20% monocytes, 10% B cells, 10% NK cells and may contain up to 5% granulocytes . Cells are collected from healthy donors following IRB protocols. HIV-1, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are not detected for all donors and/or cell lots. A Certificate of Analysis is provided for each cell lot purchased.

Ability to Screen Different Donors

Sample representation in your experiment matters. We maintain an inventory of different donors in an effort to satisfy your sample representation requirements. You can choose a lot based on donor demographic characteristics, and screen multiple lots to find the lot(s) that work best for you. In addition, we can request repeat donors if you need additional cells from a particular donor.

Rich Source of Immune Cells

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) are a mixed population of single nucleus cells. They can be further purified to isolate individual cell types such as natural killer cells, T cells, and B cells. In addition, PMBCs are a rich source of monocytes, which can be directed to differentiate into either macrophages or dendritic cells through culture with various cytokines. Supported by an Optimized Media System LGM-3TM Lymphocyte Growth Medium was specifically designed for support and maintenance of lymphocytes and is optimized for serum-free culturing (additional cytokines may be necessary depending on application) Alternative media containing serum may also be acceptable.

Please contact Scientific Support for serum containing media recommendations. Lonza guarantees the performance of CloneticsTM/PoieticsTM cells only if appropriate CloneticsTM/PoieticsTM media and reagents are used exclusively and the recommended storage and use protocols are followed. Any modifications made to the recommended cell systems including the use of alternative media, reagents or protocols, will void cell and media performance guarantees. If you need assistance in selecting the appropriate media, reagents, or protocol, please contact Lonza Scientific Support.
